In the early spring of 2018 the gallery was struck by the number of gallery artists developing editioned works and decided to turn our focus to New Edition, our 2018 summer exhibition. New Edition will feature the work of nine artists; Steve Dennie, Alex Katz, Tom Orr, Adam Raymont, Dan Rizzie, Allison V. Smith, Ann Stautberg, Jay Shinn and Danny Williams. Though these artists differ in practices, they all consider a serial succession when adding to their portfolio. This exhibition highlights the different ways these artists approach the concept of editions.

In 1997, on a trip to San Antonio, Texas, Margie Weidenbaker became enraptured and inspired by the high-quality glass art she discovered. She always had a passion for interior design, and the intricate, delicate beauty of the glass art pieces inspired her to open a gallery, Glass Expressions, that would bring this unique art form to Topeka, Kansas. Glass Expressions became a Topeka institution for nearly 20 years before transitioning to an online gallery.

Today, her daughter Brooke, is carrying on her mother’s passion and legacy by opening LMB Art Glass, a new gallery in the heart of the Design District in Dallas, Texas. The selection at LMB Art Glass focuses on quality and diversity, with pieces ranging from jewelry and small gift items to free-form focal pieces. The love for the glass art was passed down from mother to daughter, and Brooke hopes to pass that love along to others as well.

Smink

Dallas, Texas, 75207

sminkinc.com

Established in 1989 as a showcase of fine design and furniture, SMINK has become a purveyor of fine products for living. We have gathered great manufacturers to us that represent the products of many famous designers - Minotti with the work of Rodolfo Dordoni, Living Divani with the work of Piero Lissoni, Porro with Lissoni, Massaud, Pillet, Rennie, and Kettal with Partricia Urquiola, Jasper Morrison, and Dordoni, Simon/Estel with the work of the great Carlos Scarpa. These are the great minds of the modern age - all of whom pursued the elegance of perfect design.

As SMINK has morphed, we developed a vision of living that included fine art. Through years we added Rina Menardi pottery, Ivan Baj's hand-blown glass, Haubert and Baj's Avec textiles, sheeting and fine bed linens from Society, handmade Tibetan rugs designed by Zoe Luyendijk, Thel's paintings and Gary Faye's photography. And so, gently, we added more fine artists and we encouraged our clients to see that there is no differentiation between the muse of a furniture designer and the muse of a world class painter. The process of delight and epiphany is so similar the the only difference at the end of the day is how you will utilize the final product. Art and design begin as the same twinkle of light, the same blast of driven enthusiasm and the same sheer joy. It is creation; Genesis, if you will.
